The Meaning Behind Kourtney Kardashian's Baby Name ''Penelope Scotland Disick''

Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick
welcomed their second child, a baby girl,
Sunday in Los Angeles, Us Weekly
confirmed.

The couple named their daughter Penelope
Scotland Disick and many fans want to
know the meaning behind the unexpected
name.

According to Pamela Satran at
Nameberry.com, Penelope is a Greek name
that means "weaver." It is also associated
with the faithful wife of Odysseus in
Homer's Odyssey. Popular nicknames for
Penelope include Penny, Nell, Nellie and
Poppy. And Scotland as a middle name, a
source confirmed to Us weekly, was a creative way
to honor the little girl's dad, Scott.

The name Penelope has grown in popularity
in the U.S. recently as more celebrities have
chosen the name for their daughters.

Actress Tina Fey's named her daughter,
born on August 10, 2011, Penelope Athena
Richmond, and celebrity trainer Tracy
Anderson named her first child Penelope
this May.

Kardashian and 29-year-old Disick's
precious Penelope joins their 2-year-old
son, Mason. "The entire Kardashian/Jenner
clan was at the hospital and everyone was
super excited!" a source told Us weekly. The couple
have been dating for five years.

Younger sister Kim Kardashian, 31, blogged
Monday, "She is absolutely perfect! I am so
excited to be an aunt again and can’t wait
to spoil little Penelope."
